Music Trivia Night

The Chamber held its first "Music Trivia Night" on Saturday, September 13 at the JFK Community Center in Florissant.  Many of the guests that night got into the theme of music with their costumes and table decorations.  We would like to thank our Presenting Sponsor, Hospice Advantage; Round Sponsors Christian Hospital, Paul Cerame Auto Group, Gary's Automotive Service, Schaefer Auto Body Centers, Goldkamp Heating and Cooling, and the City of Florissant; Bar Sponsor Ahleim & Dorsey, LLC; Lottery Tree Sponsor, US Bank; and VIP Table Sponsor Stygar Florissant Chapel.  We would also like to thank our volunteers for the evening, Ricky Hopkins, Sr., Melissa Rakers, Loretta M. Culver's Ground-Breaking Ceremony

A ground-breaking ceremony was held on Thursday, September 4 for the new Culver's restaurant in Florissant.  On hand to break ground were Culver's co-founder and CEO, Craig Culver, franchise owners Jim Shelton, Gary Beres, Jill Beres, Florissant Mayor Tom Schneider, Florissant city officials, GNC Chamber board members, ambassadors and staff.  The site of the new location will be 955 North Lindbergh at the corner of Lindbergh Blvd. and St. Ferdinand Street.  The new restaurant is scheduled to open in the latter part of 2014.

August Membership Luncheon

Our August membership luncheon was held at Catering To You Banquet Center.  We would like to thank our meeting sponsor, First National Bank of St. Louis for not only sponsoring the meeting but for donating some great gift cards to area restaurants along with a couple of awesome St. Louis Cardinal Baseball jerseys for our attendance prizes.  We would also like to thank Betty Coleman with the St. Louis County Assessors office for taking the time out of her busy schedule to speak to our members and guests about property assessments.  Each month our Chamber has showcased one of our member cities and the month of August we recognized the City of Ferguson.  Check out our Facebook page for additional photos of the luncheon.

Fund Established to Help Businesses
The North County Inc. Regional Development Association and the St. Louis Regional Business Council have established the Reinvest North County Fund to support small business owners and school children who were impacted by the recent tragedy in the city of Ferguson and surrounding communities.

Mercy Urgent Care Ribbon Cutting

2014 Scholarship Bowl

A huge thank you to all of our members who participated in our Annual Scholarship Bowl held at Crest Bowling Lanes.  It was a total sell-out, wall-to-wall bowlers, all helping the Chamber to continue to provide scholarships to local students each year.  We would also like to thank our many sponsors for supporting this great event year after year.  Congratulations to the first place team from ITS Computers, second place team from Brown Elementary School in the Hazelwood School District and our last place team from Valley Industries.  We hope you all display your trophies proudly and come back next year to defend your titles!  This year we included a new award for "Best Team Spirit".  This certificate went to Dr. Tobias and the Hazelwood School District for bringing 6 teams to the event this year.  We hope everyone had a great time regardless of how many pins you knocked down.  Be sure to check out our Facebook page for more photos.

Ribbon Cutting for Holiday Inn Express & Suites

The Greater North County Chamber of Commerce welcomed new member Holiday Inn Express & Suites with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the hotel's grand opening on Thursday, July 31.  This new hotel is located at 323 Taylor Rd. in Hazelwood.  John Treat, the General Manager of the hotel and his staff welcomed the chamber and their guests with a tour of the hotel, some delicious food and drawings for hotel stays and more.  Congratulations to chamber member Bill Morrison of Morrison Travel & Cruise, the winner of the Kindle Fire HD given away by Holiday Inn.  Please be sure to check out our Facebook page for some great photos of the event.

Ferguson Food Truck Event

The City of Ferguson hosted a "Food Truck Lunch" in the heart of downtown Ferguson at Plaza 501 on Monday, July 21.  The beautiful weather brought out lots of people who enjoyed their lunch outdoors and away from the office that day.  Everything from pasta to dessert was showcased by the many food truck vendors.  Check out the calendar on the City of Ferguson website at www.fergusoncity.com for upcoming events!

St. Louis County Executive Candidate Forum

The Greater North County Chamber of Commerce partnered with The League of Women Voters to host a candidate forum for the St. Louis County Executive position.  We would like to thank  St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley for providing the location and the League of Women Voters that moderated the forum.  We would also like to thank the five candidates that participated that evening for taking the time out of their busy schedules to attend. This forum provided the residents of North County the opportunity to ask questions of each candidate on issues of concern.  The answers to these questions will help the voters in St. Louis County make educated decisions on election day.

July Membership Meeting

A huge thank you to Cathy Bono with Delmar Gardens North & Jeana Klenc with Garden Villas North for hosting a wonderful July membership luncheon.  The food was excellent and the bright and beautiful setting of the room made you feel like you were outdoors.  We would also like to thank our guest speakers Jennifer Cordia and Chris Cebollero from Christian Hospital who spoke about Christian Hospital's  "Community Health Access Program".  Please be sure to check out our Facebook page for additional photos.

Celebrating the City of Black Jack


Each month the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce highlights one of our member cities.  In the month of July we are celebrating the City of Black Jack.  On Tuesday, July 15, members of the chamber staff and board of directors presented Mayor Norm McCourt and the city council with an appreciation plaque at the monthly council meeting.

July Business After Hours

We would like to thank Pulaski Bank and Papa Murphy's Pizza for hosting a great July Business After Hours on July 9 at Pulaski's Hazelwood location.   All of our members and guests that attended were treated to some delicious fresh baked pizza provided by Papa Murhpy's and some very refreshing drinks provided by Pulaski Bank.  The non-profit charity that was highlighted at the event was Accessible Play.  The main focus of this wonderful charity is to provided accessible playground equipment at local parks for children living with disabilities.  We also enjoyed some great music provided by Big Papa G entertainment and even played a little "mini game" of Music Trivia just to give everyone a feel for our upcoming Music Trivia Night on September 13.  Be sure to check out our facebook page for additional photos of the event and for information on upcoming GNC Chamber and Chamber member events.

June Business After Hours

What great weather for a wine garden Business After Hours.  Thank you to Christina & Nate Bennett at Hendel's for hosting such a great event.  This is the 4th year in a row that Hendel's has hosted our June Business After Hours.  Over 75 people enjoyed great food, drink and casual networking.   Many stayed afterward to watch the Next Great Baker competition on the big screen tv's featuring Hendel's own pastry chef Lia Weber.  Be sure to check out our facebook page for additional photos of the event.


June Membership Luncheon

It was wall to wall members at the June luncheon at Norwood Hills Country Club on the 18th.  Thank you to our June sponsor, SSM DePaul Health Center.  We would like to thank Bellefontaine Neighbors' Mayor Bob Doerr for taking the time out of his busy schedule to come to our meeting and share all of the great things happening in his city.  June was our "Speed Networking & Bingo" meeting.  Prizes were given to those members that were lucky enough to get a BINGO.  Join us in July at Delmar Gardens North for another great meeting!

June "Featured City" Bellefontaine Neighbors


Each month the GNC Chamber will be featuring one of our member cities.  For the month of June we celebrated the City of Bellefontaine Neighbors.  Chamber staff and board members attended the June 19 Board of Aldermen meeting and presented Mayor Doerr and the Aldermen a plaque in recognition of their continued membership in the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce.

On Tuesday, June 17th, Prudential Select Properties became Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Select Properties!  They celebrated their brand change with a ribbon cutting ceremony.  Cutting the ribbon is Maryann Vitale, president of the Hazelwood real estate company, and Earl Lee, chief executive officer for HSF Affiliates LLC.  Longtime member Rory Schwartz is the Broker-Manager at the Northwest Office in Hazelwood at 5494 Brown Road, Ste 113. Phone number is (314) 838-8661.
