City of Florissant Plaque Presentation

The Greater North County Chamber presented an appreciation plaque to Florissant Mayor Tom Schneider at the city council meeting.  The City of Florissant was highlighted during the month of October in the chamber monthly newsletter and at the October membership luncheon.  For the past 5 months, the Chamber has recognized one of our member cities by showcasing the wonderful things each city has to offer to the residents and businesses in North County.

Women's Empowerment Seminar

The Greater North County Chamber of Commerce  Women In Networking (W.I.N.) Group held a Women's Empowerment Seminar on Wednesday, October 8th.  Pictured in the photo are the guests stretching out during the "Body Break Session" led Sharita Davis with Vitality Spa.  We would like to thank our guest speakers, Bonnie Barczykowski, C.E.O., Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri and Marcy Shipman, Regional Director, Wells Fargo for providing our guests with some very valuable information.  We would also like to thank Andrea's Boutique and Brief Reflections for providing the outfits and jewelry for the "stretch your dollars" fashion show. Firehouse Subs Ribbon Cutting

The Chamber held a ribbon cutting ceremony for new member Firehouse Subs on Tuesday, October 7.  Shown in the photo cutting the ribbon is franchise owner Maureen Selzler.  Joining in on the festivities were chamber president Carolyn Marty, Florissant Mayor Tom Schneider, Black Jack Fire Chief Mike Gantner, members of the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District, Chamber board members, ambassadors and staff.  Firehouse Subs is located at 2312 N. First National Bank of St. Louis

Ferguson Community Center Ribbon Cutting

A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the new Ferguson Community Center was held on Friday, September 19.  Ferguson Mayor James Knowles, III is shown cutting the ribbon along with members of the Ferguson Lions Club, Ferguson city officials, Greater North County Chamber staff, community leaders and guests.  A tour of the beautiful facility followed the ceremony.  The community center is located at 1050 Smith Avenue in Ferguson.  Check out our Facebook page for additional photos of the event.

Christian Hospital Emergency Department Expansion

Christian Hospital (CH) hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 18 to officially mark the completion of its $17.3 million Emergency Department renovation and expansion. The new 40,000-square-foot CH Emergency Department has 38 private exam rooms, including five major medical rooms. The last major renovation was in 1993. Imaging Services also underwent a major renovation as part of the project.

September Business After Hours

September Member To Member Showcase

Music Trivia Night

Culver's Ground-Breaking Ceremony

A ground-breaking ceremony was held on Thursday, September 4 for the new Culver's restaurant in Florissant.  On hand to break ground were Culver's co-founder and CEO, Craig Culver, franchise owners Jim Shelton, Gary Beres, Jill Beres, Florissant Mayor Tom Schneider, Florissant city officials, GNC Chamber board members, ambassadors and staff.  The site of the new location will be 955 North Lindbergh at the corner of Lindbergh Blvd. and St. Ferdinand Street.  The new restaurant is scheduled to open in the latter part of 2014.

August Membership Luncheon

Our August membership luncheon was held at Catering To You Banquet Center.  We would like to thank our meeting sponsor, First National Bank of St. Louis for not only sponsoring the meeting but for donating some great gift cards to area restaurants along with a couple of awesome St. Louis Cardinal Baseball jerseys for our attendance prizes.  We would also like to thank Betty Coleman with the St. Louis County Assessors office for taking the time out of her busy schedule to speak to our members and guests about property assessments.  Each month our Chamber has showcased one of our member cities and the month of August we recognized the City of Ferguson.  Check out our Facebook page for additional photos of the luncheon.

Fund Established to Help Businesses

The North County Inc. Regional Development Association and the St. Louis Regional Business Council have established the Reinvest North County Fund to support small business owners and school children who were impacted by the recent tragedy in the city of Ferguson and surrounding communities.

2014 Scholarship Bowl

A huge thank you to all of our members who participated in our Annual Scholarship Bowl held at Crest Bowling Lanes.  It was a total sell-out, wall-to-wall bowlers, all helping the Chamber to continue to provide scholarships to local students each year.  We would also like to thank our many sponsors for supporting this great event year after year.  Congratulations to the first place team from ITS Computers, second place team from Brown Elementary School in the Hazelwood School District and our last place team from Valley Industries.  We hope you all display your trophies proudly and come back next year to defend your titles!  This year we included a new award for "Best Team Spirit".  This certificate went to Dr. Tobias and the Hazelwood School District for bringing 6 teams to the event this year.  We hope everyone had a great time regardless of how many pins you knocked down.  Be sure to check out our Facebook page for more photos.
